Brian Mclaren has a few quotable quotes from this book but he does not delve deeply. What struck me wasn't Paul's quotes as much as 'Cory & the 7th story', a children's book written by Brian himself. It's worth a read, regardless of whether you are a Christian. The pdf file and slides are available free online.
My post will be a series of ideas based on 'The Adventure of Living',
which comprises 21 chapters.
Chapter 1
1. Every person needs an adventure to keep him going in life.
2. Discovery is followed by difficulties in improvisation, but it is fun.
3. Organisation & standardisation bring about routine, which is no longer fun.
4. When it comes to adventure, the first step is the most difficult.
5. Quality adventure supersedes quantity adventure,
which translates to more money, possessions, activities, power.
6. Many people fill their lives with a whirl of activities
as compensation for a profound dissatisfaction of the quality of life.
7. Suffering & recovering from misfortunes like illness can be seen as an adventure.
8. Woe betide those who are no longer interested in anything.
9. Crime & adultery are misguided adventures.
